TEEAC Meeting Presentations - November 2011

1) Energy Savings Warranty  - Jen Aitchison of Jones Brown Insurance Brokers presented details on this newly released insurance product that provides assurance that energy savings from energy efficiency measures will materialize. View presentation
 
2) Energy Savings Purchase Agreement - Tim Stoate of TAF presented details on TAF's just launched program whereby a condominium can finance the installation of energy efficient equipment at zero upfront cost and repay TAF's investment solely through the energy savings. View presentation
 
3) Marianne Touchie presented two TowerWise case studies. The first case study involves a new construction condominium that, through good design and the installation of ICFs and a geothermal system, was able to reduce the cost to build by 25% and operating costs by 50%. The second case study involves a Toronto Community Housing building that installed a combined heat and power system to supply domestic hot water, electricity and back-up power.  View presentation
 
4) Tom Routley introduced a consortium that seeks to incentivize energy retrofits through changes in federal tax policy. View presentation
 
5) Aderonke Akande of Tower Renewal presented on the City of Toronto's Tower Renewal STEP program. The STEP program uses checklists in six areas to provide program participants with information and actions aimed at improving Toronto's apartment buildings and apartment neighbourhoods.
